July 2026 Never before
In the vineyard…
Starting in mid-June, temperatures turned summery and then extremely hot.
The berries quickly progress from the “lead shot” stage to the “pea” stage.
Then the clusters began to close up shortly thereafter.
2026 is one of the earliest vintages, with the overall health of the grapes deemed satisfactory.
Late-June heat wave: With the exceptional weather and temperatures (38°C–40°C), growth continues unabated and the grapes are progressing rapidly through their stages.
However, the lack of water is becoming noticeable. At this stage, though, it is not causing any major damage to the grape clusters. It does, however, heighten concerns about water stress should the lack of rain continue.
The foliage shows signs of burning.
The grafts planted earlier in the season have all been watered.
At the end of month, first berries observed.
