January 2026 The end of autumn in Burgundy…
In the vineyard…
December was cool and wet, typical of a Burgundy winter, with several days of fog.
Temperatures were generally moderate, With a few frosty mornings but no significant cold spells.
Frequent rainfall and high humidity kept the soil often saturated. Low sunshine and short days limited the drying out of the plots.
The conditions were not favourable for mechanised work such as finishing the holes and removing dead vines, or crushing the canes.
Winter pruning began at the start of the month in the lower parts of the vineyard.
Pruning has been delayed in the cru parcels to limit the risk of spring frost.
Continuity in the maintenance of the trellising (repair of a few wires and replacement of broken posts or end caps).
At the same time, vine pruning continues while awaiting shredding.
In the cellar…
The 2024 vintage wines have been racked and the first bottling has taken place.
The ageing of the 2025 vintage must be monitored regularly.
