At the vineyard…

July saw the end of work in the green with the end of trellising.

The soil work was completed both mechanically and manually.

Manual trimming, which allows more detailed and precise work, continued all during July.

Climate and weather

  • Early July was marked by an exceptional heatwave, with a peak of 38°C, well above seasonal averages.
  • Several thunderstorms punctuated the month, with varying amounts depending on the sector (a few storms were locally accompanied by hail or sleet, causing minor damage to bunches)
  • At the end of July, temperatures returned to normal levels, or even slightly below average.

Bunch development

  • Early July: Cluster closure stage.
  • Mid-July: Appearance of the 1st berries ripened in the earliest sectors. Buds begin to set.
  • Late July: rather slow development of veraison
